A mentor is a great option for newbie’s, but the problem is finding the correct one. As a mentor can boost your marketing efforts, using a mentor can certainly save you years of marketing, and also save you mistakes that you would have made.

Using one can even save you money on things you might have spent but not have needed, such as high priced courses, which only end up on your shelves.

Experience plays a large part of it too, as you have to try things for yourself and see if they work for you.

Remember picking the right mentor is vital.


1. Know what you want from a mentor, and the type of projects and help you need with. If you don’t know what you want, then it is hard to narrow down the type of mentor you want.

2. Make sure when deciding your mentor that they say they can teach you ‘what’ you need help with – with your goals. There is no point choosing a mentor that has not worked in the field you wish to have mentoring about.
(eg, don’t chose a mentor who specialises in PPC, if you need help with product creation)

3. Check out feedback about them. from students.
Look at reviews and case studies of past success students, so you can get a feel for their reputation.

4. Ask them questions on their program before deciding.
Don’t be shy to email them or even phone them to ask questions about their mentor program.

5. Find out their mentoring schedule plans.
Do they work in the daytimes? evenings? weekends or not? Find this out, to see if they fit your working schedules.

6. Do Research on them.
You should do as much research as you can about your chosen mentor to see what their background is, and what they have been involved in.

7. Ask how they accept payments?
Paypal? Credit cards? Checks? to see what is suitable for you.

8. Look for somebody who you have known about for a while.
Then at least you have known them for a while, rather than saying yes to somebody you have just stumbled on google.

9. You can have 2 or more mentors!. Don’t feel that you have to just have one mentor, you can have 2 or 3, which can help you in different areas of your marketing.

10. If you have any bad experiences with a mentor, or feel they are not pulling their weight with you as a student, then don’t be scarred to pull out of the deal.

11. You have to put in effort too!.
If the mentor has taken the effort to mentor you, then you have to put in the work and effort to get your results. No action = No profits! simple!

12. If they name is Matt Morgan, then I would use him, hehe.

Overall a mentor can help you, and choosing one should be done carefully.

    Hey Matt, this is definitely VERY COOL advice on choosing a mentor my friend.

    I did a lot of research when I was picking mine and even though there are certain things we don’t absolutely agree, going with a mentor was one of the best decisions I ever took in my marketing career.

    I wasn’t aware you were doing coaching, really cool to know and I bet you must have some success stories by now.
